What a great surprise to wake up and see a photo essay about Venice! Always fun to see the familiar through fresh eyes. I love the texture you've created by juxtaposing color with black and white shots. Sometimes when I'm walking down Main toward the roundabout I look up at the new (and old) 3-story units and it reminds me of a little slice of SF (cities grow UP!). What I love most about this place ----> the mega mashup of cultures which also makes SF great too. (for some reason I'm guessing or recalling that you are from Bay area?)
